Renters insurance in Ohio can help protect your belongings from theft and damage. Here are some tips to keeping your stuff safe!

  • Leave a light on. When you’re away, consider leaving a light on inside your apartment, especially if you live on a ground floor. Dark windows are a sign to burglars that no one is home.
  • Make friends with neighbors. Neighbors are your best line of defense when it comes to knowing what’s going on around the area. Make friends with a few people that live nearby. This way, you’ll have someone to go to if anything goes wrong, and you can ask them to keep an eye on your place when you’re away.
  • Hold your mail. Piling up mail is a sure sign that you’re away. If you’re going to be away for more than a day or two, consider putting a hold on your mail or asking a neighbor to collect it.
  • Remove your name from the mailbox. If you live alone and your name is on the mailbox, consider removing it. Thieves can see that only one person lives there, so it’s easier for them to tell when no one is home.

Home security isn’t an issue just for homeowners. When you rent an apartment, you have to do all you can to protect your belongings from theft, too, including investing in renters insurance in Ohio!
